Is it this hard to get new patients this days?

Well, not really if you are offering something unique that helps solve the problems people have and for which they have not been able to find a viable solution.

In the ADHD Wellness Expert Mentoring Experience, I teach that the best career move and best strategy you can make as a chiropractor to start seing more patients, earning more and getting more prestige is to become an expert.

Not that you need to have a complete specialty practice, but that you at least become an expert in one specific topic. You basically need to find a niche and serve that niche with excellence.

There are 6 criteria to finding a great niche. One of them is to find a niche where the prevalence of people with the specific problem you can help solve is increasing year after year.

And this is why specializing in ADHD is so great. Because the prevalence of the diagnosis is increasing.

Last month, a new report published by the Center for Disease Control showed that the prevalence of parent-reported ADHD in children had increased by 21.8% between 2003 and 2007.
 

That's an additional 1 million children that's get added to the already 4.5 million children diagnosed with ADHD in the United States alone.

So, if you want to increase the number of people you want to serve, stop looking in the wrong places.

Many chiropractors have been telling me that the times are difficult and it's tougher than ever to get patients in.

In my ADHD program, my next available assesment appointment is in 11 weeks from now!

Don't be like the guy who dropped the keys of his car in a dark place and is looking for them under a streetlight because that's where he can see something.

Look for your keys where they are. Look for patients where they are.

I'd challenge you to take the upcoming new year to revisit your vision as a chiropractor, make a firm commitment to become an expert and join us in our movement to help solve the problems of millions of children.

Well, that's what conventional medicine does when it comes to the 1 in 6 children that suffer from neurodevelopmental disorders.

They diagnose based on behavior, and never take a look at the brain!

6. Does the mother have amalgam fillings?
 

50% of amalgam fillings is mercury, one of the most potent neurotoxins on Earth. Studies have shown that mercury slowly, but surely, leaks out of amalgams over time. And that mercury can pass the transplacental barrier. Always ask the mother how many fillings she had in her mouth at the time she was pregnant and whether she had dental work during pregnancy. If the mother has or had amalgam fillings, make sure you investigate heavy metal toxicity.

7. Has the child been vaccinated?

Vaccines contain lots of pollutant such as formaldehyde, aluminum and mercury (for some). So, if the child has been vaccinated, test for toxic exposure. In susceptible individuals, especially those with an allergic constitution, vaccines can trigger subclinical auto-immune disease that lead to brain inflammation. In that case, don't hesitate to evaluate for immune impairment or involvement.

8. Did the child crawl and go on all four before to walk?

Proper military crawling and going on all four is an important part of neurological development. If the child did not go through those stages, went through them improperly (like crawling on one butt) or went through them too fast, he or she may suffer from neurological disorganization. If that's the case, make sure you add some brain-balancing exercises in your care plan.

9. Has the child received one or more course of antibiotics?

Antibiotics are one of the primary causes of dysbiosis and leaky gut. If the child had one or more courses of antibiotics, evaluate for gut flora and leaky gut .

10. Does the child suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding), especially at night?

Teeth grinding (bruxism), especially at night, can be a sign of parasitic infection. Dr. Michael Lyons, a Canadian Medical Doctor, found that close to 40% of children with ADHD had a parasite infection. If the child has teeth grinding, evaluate for possible parasite (using muscle testing or a Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis).

ADHD and other autistic spectrum disorders are complex. There are many pieces to the puzzle. Taking care of these children require upgrading your standards if you want to get the results that those children deserve.

Upgrading your standars and offering a comprehensive approach is not too difficult to do. This is what I teach in the Mentoring Experience, and many doctors who have been through it are able to provide amazing solutions to this children in just a few months.

I call them the 10 Key Indicator Questions.

Today, I want to share the first 5 with you:

1. Has the mother undergone significant emotional stress during pregnancy?

Maternal emotional stress during pregnancy can affect the proper developement of the fetus' nervous system and sensitize him to later stresses in life. If the mother answers yes to this question, you want to investigate further how the child is handling stress. From a care plan perspective, you need to reduce stress in the child's bodymind and start teaching him or her stress-hadling strategies.

2. Has the child suffered a stressful birth or even birth trauma
(including C–section, use of forceps and/or vacuum,
lots of pulling/twisting on the head, …)?

As a chiropractor, you have a true unique understanding of the value of this question. You know how birth trauma can subluxate the child. Make sure you put special attention on the upper cervical, cranium and meningeal system in your chiropractic exam.

3. Was the child born differently than with natural, vaginal birth?

The birth process triggers important neurological, primitive reflexes in the newborn. If the mother answers no to this questions, you want to perform an in-depth neurological evaluation of the child to ascertain whether primitive reflexes have been properly inhibited.

4. Did the baby cry at the moment of delivery?

Not crying at the moment of delivery can be a sign of brain hypoxia. If the mother answers no to this question, a complete neurological exam is warranted.

5. Did the baby have “cradle cap” or “milk crust” (neonatal seborrhea dermatitis)?

Craddle cap can be a sign of casein intolerance (casein is the protein of dairy products). If the mother answers yes to this question you will want to investigate further whether the child is suffering from food intolerances, especially to casein. You can do that by using muscle testing, food IgG assay or even an elimination diet.
